JanLynn was diagnosed with invasive endometrial cancer in her 40s after experiencing atypical vaginal bleeding. Labs later revealed she had Lynch Syndrome. Learn more about JanLynn’s experiences with cancer risk that runs in families. In the “very first meeting with the surgeon,” JanLynn was offered the opportunity to participate in a clinical trial but “did not consent.” At the time, JanLynn “couldn’t process what was happening” and that coupled with her tendency to be “a very private person” ultimately meant she was “unwilling” get involved. Since that time, she’s “had to learn to be less private” which has been “an ongoing process.” Now, JanLynn hopes her “experiences can provide something for somebody” and has found other ways to help outside of trials.

Were you asked to be involved in any clinical trials?

I was asked. So, you’re asked, not you. But I was asked in the very first meeting with the surgeon. And I did not consent because I couldn't process what was happening to me in the first place. I was unwilling.
