Vivian Christensen, PhD served as the lead investigator on this project. She conducted the majority of interviews for this module and led the data analysis and writing process. Vivian is trained as a sociologist and works as a research scientist at Oregon Health & Science University.   

Erika Cottrell, PhD, MPP is the Chair of the Health Experiences Research Network, the United States Database of Individual Patient Experiences (DIPEx) initiative. She consulted on the methodology used for this project and reviewed and provided feedback on the module materials. Erika is trained as a sociologist and holds a faculty appointment at Oregon Health & Science University. 

Melissa Varnum, MPH was the Research Project Manager on this study and was involved with all aspects of the project from the beginning to completion. She was the main point of contact for participants and the Stakeholder Advisory Board. Melissa was an integral member of the project analysis team, participating in the analysis and summary writing process. 

Lauren Tarlow, MS contributed to this project in multiple ways: data analysis, bio and summary writing and editing, video clip cutting, and catalyst film development. Lauren is a Research Associate at Oregon Health & Science University. 

Kathleen Carlson, MS, PhD is a Core Investigator at the Center to Improve Veteran Involvement in Care (CIVIC), a Veterans Health Administration Health Systems Research Center of Innovation, located at VA Portland Health Care System. A Professor in the School of Public Health at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), she also directs the OHSU Center for Gun Violence Prevention Research. Kathleen is an expert in firearm injury prevention research and was instrumental in launching the project, obtaining funding, and advising on the feasibility of collecting Veterans’ stories and recruitment. 

Megan Lafferty, PhD is a research anthropologist in CIVIC at VA Portland. Megan conducted several Veteran interviews, advised on catalyst film content, and aided with dissemination. 

Lauren Maxim, PhD is a researcher in CIVIC at VA Portland who assisted with Veteran recruitment, advised on catalyst film content, and led development of Resources and Information content.
